Did you know that eLearning can be used as a prelude to a hands-on session?
Familiarizing learners with the new content management system adopted by the organisation
Building simulation-based training components to introduce a new content management system to the employees
Endress+Hauser views its websites as global showrooms, aiming to present a unified brand image to customers worldwide, especially as the company embraces the digital era. To achieve this, brand consistency is crucial, relying on consistent layouts, offerings, and messaging. Employees needed to create content for the website in their daily environment – including the tasks of creating new content and renewing existing content.
Endress+Hauser recently switched to a new web client called Censhare to enable flexible access to the Content Management System. The global and local website content creators along with the quality check approvers needed a thorough understanding of the new interface to operate the Censhare Content Management System effectively. A self-paced web-based training was proposed as a pre-requisite to the virtual Web Channel Editor classroom training so that learners could benefit from the hands-on training consisting of roleplay and best practices exchange.
In response to this requirement, Constellar Consulting proposed five short modules complete with relatable examples, click and learn interactivities, knowledge checks and assessments to reinforce learning. This approach would ensure that learners could first gain essential knowledge at their own pace, setting the stage for more interactive hands-on training. It would also help the learners to perform basic operations in the Censhare Content Management System.
Visually powerful infographics and relevant photographs were used to explain the concepts better. Key procedures in Censhare were taught using tool simulations with prominent highlights and intuitive user interactions. A glossary was also made available to familiarize the learners with the terms related to Censhare.
There was a fear that the application of the new technology would disrupt the entire workflow. Endress+Hauser avoided this by creating a network of early learners who championed the Censhare Web Client as facilitated knowledge transfer and troubleshooting amongst their peers.
Once the training was introduced, learners appreciated the interactive tool simulations that guided them step-by-step through Censhare procedures, facilitating their understanding of basic terms, definitions, roles, and website structures. These self-paced online modules served as a prerequisite to instructor-led programs, allowing employees to gain core knowledge upfront.
Regular handout sessions were conducted to ensure ongoing support and further learning. These sessions included valuable resources such as training videos, additional tool training, and audio-video conferencing, providing employees with a comprehensive knowledge base to enhance their Censhare proficiency.
The classroom discussions and interactions reached a higher level of quality and were more productive owing to the web-based training. This combination of web-based and classroom training effectively addressed training needs, aligning learning objectives with business goals and enabling Endress+Hauser to stay competitive and agile in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
